The new trailer for Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk used Winston Churchill's now immortal words from the speech to UK parliament, now referred to as 'We Shall Fight on the Beaches' speech, to explain the struggle for life of the men stranded on the French coast during World War II.

Harry Styles' voiceover grips you from the first few frames. Rows and rows of Army men from the British empire, Belgium, Canadian and French forces waiting to be rescued as Nazi Germany ambushed them from all sides but one, the English Channel. Christopher Nolan's  WWII thriller follows the events that took place in the 10 days of evacuation, code-named Operation Dynamo.

Forces and civilians in that time did their best to evacuate. Oscar-winner Mark Rylance's character bravely leads one such group in the English Channel to assist in the evacuation.

Tom Hardy is a Royal Airforce pilot in this one, providing cover from the skies and partaking in high octane dogfights.

Stranded on the beaches are army and navy men (boys practically) played by Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy, James D'Arcy, Aneurin Barnard, Jack Lowden and Harry Styles among others.

Nolan has collaborated with his Interstellar cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema (who also shot Spectre for Sam Mendes) for Dunkirk. The vastness of panorama shots feels overwhelming, so does the intensity of the dogfight shots.

Here's the most intense part of Churchill's speech after the Dunkirk evacuation. For the full version click here.

We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God’s good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.
