Ellen DeGeneres brought goodies for fans waiting for the new trailer of The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales on Thursday

The new trailer for the fifth movie in the franchise shows how dashing and charming Jack Sparrow looked when he was a young pirate!

Disney has been taking huge leaps with CGI. While the latest digital incarnation was of Peter Cushing's character in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Johnny Depp's notorious pirate probably didn't need that level of working. The touch up has, however, yielded good results.

The trailer gives us the origin story of the ugly feud between Jack Sparrow and Captain Salazar of the Spanish Armada. Salazar had vowed to eradicate all the pirates from the face of the sea (get it?). He managed to get to all but one. Young Jack Sparrow. Sparrow single-handedly sank Salazar & Co by taking them into the Devil's Triangle and filled the captain with rage and a thirst for revenge.

To stop Salazar, Jack Sparrow will have to join forces with old frenemy Captain Barbossa, Will Turner, and new crew members — an astronomer named Carina Smyth and a Royal Navy lad Henry — to find the Trident of Poseidon, Sparrow's only hope to survive.

The movie is directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg. The star-studded cast includes Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, Brenton Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario, Stephen Graham, David Wenham and others.

Earlier on Wednesday (IST), Disney unveiled the new poster for Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The movie will release on May 26.
