Rajinikanth's Darbar released in theatres today. Much like most of his films, all shows of his recently released film are now houseful, at least in Chennai. More so, the movie's release was celebrated with fireworks. That, however, is not much of a surprise since Rajinikanth is treated like God there.

Rajinikanth fans came down to the roads outside of Ambattur Rakki theatre in Chennai. They started their morning very early and celebrated his movie release by releasing fireworks into the Chennai air. It was a spectacle and many people were seen making videos of the grand celebration.

Another popular theatre, Meenakshi theatre, had houseful shows in the morning. The theatre's handle shared photos from the movie and revealed that Rajinikanth's movie, especially the song Chumma Kizhi, is being loved by their cinemagoers.

Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, Darbar also features Nayanthara as the female lead and Suniel Shetty as the antagonist. Rajinikanth plays the role of a cop in the movie. Anirudh Ravichander is responsible for the music of the film, including Chumma Kizhi.
