In the new clip released for the Assassin's Creed movie, we see Callum Lynch, played by Michael Fassbender, get into Animus. It is not a pretty sight.

In the popular video games, this movie is based on, players enter Animus on a nice bed, slipping into deep slumber letting the technology travel into their DNA's genetic memories. There then you enter the world of violence, pain, suffering, and victory.

That's not the case for the character Michael Fassbender plays. Callum Lynch is tied to a massive robotic arm and a neurological implant is jabbed between his vertebrae. Then the arm lifts him and flings him in the air, miles away from the slumber gamers are familiar with since the game first came out nine years ago.

Marion Cotillard does her best to keep clinical voice and asks Lynch for his memories.

After this, Lynch is ready to go back in time to Spanish inquisition.

Assassin’s Creed opens in theatres in the US on December 21.
