Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence are paired in a sci-fi movie directed by The Imitation Game helmer Morten Tyldum and Sony Pictures followed the "Teaser of the trailer before the actual trailer" method to introduce the movie to the audience.

Jennifer Lawrence plays Aurora and Chris Pratt plays Jim, two passengers onboard a spaceship supposed to be in hibernation mode for 120 years as they are being taken to a planet away from Earth. Both are mysteriously awakened after only 30 years into the journey.

In the trailer, Jim, a mechanic who bought the cheap ticket because he wanted to leave Earth, asks Aurora, a writer from New York who is interested in cosmic travel and running away from her past, on a date.

Both get talking and Michael Sheen with mechanical legs is the bartender for the night. The lead pair explores the massive spaceship, Avalon, which has huge dining halls, halls filled with hibernation pods, trying to find the reason why they are the only ones awake before the hibernation time is supposed to end.

The pair gets talking, we get the glimpse of what might have brought them on the ship, and things take a turn. Something goes wrong, Michael Sheen/humanoid-of-sorts bangs his head on the bar and goes crazy, power goes off and Jim and Aurora are burdened with the responsibility of saving the lives onboard and most of all trusting each other.

Director Morten Tyldum has spared nothing when it came to using the VFX/CGI. We will get Star Trek combined with Gravity and a hint of Doctor Who scenes. But it remains to be seen how the chemistry between Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence in a nicely cut trailer translates on the big screen.

Pratt, Lawrence, and Michael Sheen are accompanied on the screen by Laurence Fishburne and Andy Garcia in pivotal roles.

The movie is set to release in the US on December 21, eyeing the Christmas/New Year box office and a possible clash with Disney's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story which releases on December 16.
