2016 has been a rather dull year for Bollywood releases. At the box office and the audience reception too has not been overwhelming enough. With a few hits and too many misses, 2016 will go down the drain as one of the worst years in recent Bollywood history. But 2017 already looks very promising. From Shah Rukh Khan to Salman Khan, most of the superstars have more than one release and it seems that all the films will have a better shelf life too.

Let's first discuss the films that are releasing...

Shah Rukh Khan has his high on action drama Raees which is hitting screens on January 26. From the first look of it, Raees will have a lot of dishoom dishoom and dialoguebaazi which obviously works in favour of a film like this. He also has a slice of life romantic saga which is yet to be titled, opposite Anushka Sharma, directed by Imtiaz Ali that releases on August 11.

Hrithik Roshan has already booked the Republic Day release for his next - Kaabil. A revenge story of a blind man avenging the physical assault on his wife, Kaabil's trailer has been extremely well received.

Salman Khan has two releases lined up next year. While he's as usual booked Eid 2017 for Kabir Khan's Tubelight where he plays a soldier, he has also locked a Christmas date for the Ek Tha Tiger sequel, titled Tiger Zinda Hai. Now both the films are biggies and huge numbers can be expected! Did anyone say 700 crore already?

Baahubali released last year and ended with a cliffhanger. One that has kept the audiences guessing till date. The second parter was initially supposed to release this Christmas but now, it will hit screens on April 28 next year. The first look is out and a few minutes of the film has been leaked but nothing can still match the power and the euphoria that a Baahubali 2 carries.

Aamir Khan won't be having any release in 2017 barring a film called Secret Superstar where he has an important cameo. But will it be as big as SRK's in Dear Zindagi? Then, that can be counted otherwise it makes no sense.

Ranbir Kapoor has finally had some relief in the form of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which has hit the 100 crore mark easily and become a superhit film for the team. Ranbir desperately needed it, especially after three back to back duds. But now he is finally coming up with Jagga Jasoos which has been in the pipeline for over two years. The detective saga is almost ready and will definitely release in April 2017.

Deepika Padukone had no releases in 2016. But she will be having two releases in 2017 - one Bollywood and one international film. Her xXx 3 releases in January but her magnum opus period drama Padmavati where she plays the main lead, along with Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, releases in November next year. The film is expected to create the same magic as a Bajirao Mastani did. Expectations have sky-rocketed, the buzz is tremendous.

Kangana on the other hand had no releases this year too. But her Rangoon releases in February. A mix of Casablanca and Fearless Nadia, Rangoon also has Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor starring in lead roles along with Kangs.

Ajay Devgn will have a few releases too. His Baadshaho should release somewhere around mid 2017. But the biggie will come in the form of Golmaal 4. The Rohit Shetty directorial starring Ajay and Parineeti Chopra was supposed to release next Diwali. But now, it will mostly be pre-poned. Given the budget and the scale of Golmaal films, this one is expected to be bigger, better and grander!

Finally, Akshay Kumar will follow up with his tradition of multiple releases. He's got Jolly LLB 2 releasing sometime early next year in February. Then, he has Toilet: Ek Prem Katha which he's currently shooting for. Post that, he has the biggest Indian film ever made. Robot's sequel 2.0 which will have a massive release worldwide on Diwali 2017. The first looks from the film have been unveiled and it's outstanding. Along with these, he also has Neeraj Pandey's Crack which he will start shooting for early next year.
