If he is not in the news for his movies nowadays, it does not mean that he is out of business. Bollywood actor-turned-businessman Vivek Oberoi has proposed a project to the Gujarat government. That of cleaning up Narmada canals by dredging and desilting.

Oberoi held a long meeting with revenue minister Anandiben Patel, water resources minister Babu Bokhiriya and government spokesman Saurabh Patel at Swarnim Sankul-1 at the state secretariat on Wednesday.

Patel, who is also the energy and petrochem minister, said the Bollywood actor had made a presentation to the group of ministers about his project. “He has come up with a good idea and now the government would deliberate on it. He has proposed a project of cleaning Narmada canals through dredging and desilting which would clear the obstacles and allow water to move fast in the canal,” said Patel.

The spokesman further stated that Oberoi has collaborated with some US company, which is working on dredging work. But, he did not mention the cost of the work. “It is very premature to say anything as the government is yet to consider this project. However, it was discussed that the government may give a couple of stretches of canal to see the work and take a decision after that,” said Oberoi.

Incidentally, the actor-cum-entrepreneur has also proposed to use the waste that would be recovered from the canals to develop wormi-compost.
