After a lot of apprehension, popular Tamil actor Vijay's 62nd film's title and first look was unveiled on June 21. The film which was previously supposed to be called Thalapathy 62 has now been rechristened to Sarkar, in which the actor sports a brand new look.

The big announcement was made by Sun Pictures, the banner which is bankrolling the high budget film. The announcement which was made on Twitter read, “Here is the First Look of Thalapathy Vijay’s SARKAR. #Thalapathy62isSARKAR @actorvijay @ARMurugadoss @arrahman.”

The poster of Sarkar, which is going to be directed by AR Murugadoss, has the Vijay lighting up a black cigarette, and sporting an uber-cool pair of shades. It's also for the first time that Vijay is seen sporting a salt and pepper look. With ear studs and a handsome watch, the actor looks dapper in the poster.

The Sarkar poster seamlessly merges Vijay against a sea of skyscrapers. One look at the title and the classy poster, and we can make out that the film is likely to have several socially relevant themes.

Later in the evening, another poster from Vijay starrer Sarkar was released. It marked the star's 44th birthday on June 22. The poster featured Vijay glaring intently at a laptop screen, while he is sitting in a car.

Speaking about the project, AR Murugadoss had shared, “I am confident that this picture will be bigger than our previous films Kathithi and Thuppaki.” Sarkar also stars Keerthy Suresh, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar and Yogi Babu among others.

The film, whose music shall be composed by AR Rahman, will hit the silver screens on Diwali this year.
