The 100th-day celebration of Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha's romance drama 96 was held in Chennai on Monday night and the entire team was in full attendance. Parthipen, who hosted the show, invited Trisha and Sethupathi on stage and asked them to hug each other stating that audiences wanted the duo to embrace in the film's climax, where they depart without much ado.

Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studio, who presented the film in Tamil Nadu, announced a new project with Vijay Sethupathi at the success meet event yesterday. The yet-untitled film will be directed by Delhi Prasad Deenadayal, who assisted Prem Kumar in 96. Titled Tughlak, the film is expected to be a political drama. Seethakaathi director Balaji Tharaneetharan has been signed to pen the dialogues for this film and composer Govind Vasantha, who delivered a scintillating album in 96, will be composing the music.

Vijay Sethupathi had a highly successful 2018 with super-hits such as 96, Chekka Chivandha Vaanam and Imaikka Nodigal. Although his Seethakaathi failed to rake in the moolah at the box-office, the film was rapturously reviewed by critics across the board.

After opening 2019 with another super-hit like Petta, Vijay Sethupathi is now looking forward to the release of a bevy of films which are under various stages of post-production. Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Super Deluxe, Kaaka Muttai fame Manikandan’s Kadaisi Vivasayi, Arunkumar’s Sindhubaadh and Seenu Ramasamy’s Maamanidhan are some of the projects for which Vijay has already wrapped up shooting.
