Ever since the actor has returned from a ‘well-deserved’ mini-break in New Zealand, that she’d gifted herself, Vidya Balan has plunged back into work head on. Not just starting the promotional activities of her Sujoy Ghosh film Kahaani, but keeping the actor busy are the scripts pouring in. And if sources  are to be believed then these scripts are not only from Bollywood, but also from down South and the Bengal film industry, where she had kickstared her filmi career from. But apparently the actor’s in no rush to lap up everything coming her way, no matter who the co-stars or how big the budget!

There is buzz of course, that the actor may be taking it slow, as marriage to boyfriend Siddharth Roy Kapoor may be on the cards this year and she wants to consider her personal commitments while making professional ones. But while this possibility cannot be denied, sources close to the actor say that Vidya has always been choosey about her work. “Right from Ishqiya to The Dirty Picture and even Paa, she did not say a yes to any project right away,” says a source.

Interestingly however, the source reveals that Kahaani was a film that Vidya had agreed to do even before she had done Ishqiya. “Yes, Vidya had shown a keen in Sujoy’s film almost two years back, but then there were some initial things to be sorted before she could sign on the dotted line. While Sujoy was keen to have her as the lead, Vidya too was looking forward to working with him and now that the film is finally ready for release, they are both very excited,” adds the source.

The film that’s set in Kolkata is even more special for the actor merely for the connection she shares with the city. “Shooting in Kolkata is always like being at home for me,” shares Vidya. Not surprisingly, Vidya too has several film offers from there. “Yes, I can speak Bengali fluently. In fact, I sometimes feel that I have some Bengali connection from some previous janam,” she laughs.

As for the offers, she says that whether from the South, Bengali or Hindi film industries, language can never be a bar or a criteria for choosing a film. “The only thing that attracts me to a role is the interest quotient. If I find it interesting, I will do it, no matter the genre or the length of my role or banner,” adds Vidya.
