Varun Sharma of 'Fukrey' fame to be part of TV show

Come July, and Varun Sharma of Fukrey fame will be off on a road trip travelling from Manali to Kargil to Turtuk — the gateway to Siachen Glacier. No, he is not going on a holiday, but he will be travelling as part of the TV show Ice Road Truckers. 

The show is essentially about three celebrities with wanderlust taking on the challenge of driving a truck through the tough and icy mountains of Kargil to resupply crucial items to the Indian army bases and villages. Varun is the first one to be roped in for the show.

Confirming that he is in talks for the show, Varun says it’s something he is looking forward to. “Every guy wants to go on a road trip to Leh, Ladakh, and I will be doing that, driving a truck, manoeuvring through the toughest terrains and carrying utilities. I will be alone for 20 days cut off from everything without cell phones, Instagram, etc. It will be exciting to go camping, and being on the Tiger Point where the Kargil war was fought and won.”

Before he goes on the trip, Varun will be undergoing training. “I will have to learn how to drive a truck, first on the plains then the mountains and later also with the utilities. It will need a lot of guts,” says the actor who was last seen in Dilwale. A fan of shows like Survivor and The Amazing Race where people do crazy things in isolated places, Varun is happy that the Indian version of Ice Road Truckers is happening and he will be a part of it. “I am excited and if all goes well will take off in July,” he says.
