Varun Dhawan's starpower helps 'Dishoom' ensure a decent opening of Rs 11 crore at box office!

Varun Dhawan and John Abraham's Dishoom hit theatres on Friday and the film which has been high on anticipation delivered as per expectations. The film, being an out and out masala action entertainer brought in the target audience. 

The film witnessed an occupancy of around 40% across India, which is great for a film like this. In key mass belts, the film performed even better. Predominantly a single screen film, it's  Varun Dhawan's star power that helped Dishoom put up a good day one figure at the box office. 

The film raked in around Rs 11 crore which is also the sixth highest opening figure for 2016. It is almost in the same range as Akshay Kumar's Airlift and Tiger Shroff's Baaghi but both of them are higher than Dishoom. Also, Varun's previous films Dilwale and ABCD 2 opened to bigger numbers than this.

For a film like this, it needs to be seen how it fares over the weekends and the weekdays will be equally important.
