Varun Dhawan learnt as many as 20 dance forms for his next dance film, ABCD 2. His mother's favourite dance form, however, remains the Tandav. The dance form that depicts Lord Shiva's dance of fury remains to be one of those elusive dance forms that actors in Bollywood have attempted.

Though B-Town has a lot of great dancers, very few actors have managed to pull off tandav nritya that expresses anger and ecstasy. Varun learnt this classical dance form for a song Maa Ki Chunari in his next film.

A source close to the actor says, "There is an emotional connect that Varun has with that song. Everyone knows he is a great dancer but this is the first time that he has done a Tandav. He trained really hard for it because it wasn't one of those dance forms that he was familiar with. His mother is most ecstatic about him doing the Tandav."

Other actors who did the Tandav

Akshaye Khanna
Vinod Khanna's son, Akshaye Khanna made his B-town debut with Himalay Putra in 1997 with Anjala Zaveri. The romantic drama featured the actor doing a Tandav act in his very first film. And boy, what a bloody good job Akshaye did! Who would have imagined the actor to begin his career in a film with a classical dance number?

Akshay Kumar
There is nothing that Khiladi Kumar cannot do! And yes, that includes the Tandav as well. Akshay has been known for his dancing prowess ever since he made his debut in B-town but he took it a few notches higher with his Tandav act in Waqt – Race Against Time. What's commendable is that the actor managed to do the classical dance form despite having no formal training.

Kamal Haasan
Along with being an extremely versatile actor, Kamal Haasan is also a great dancer. He made the Tandav sequence look effortless and graceful in his very popular love-story, Ek Duje Ke Liye. One of those very few actors who has managed to retain his masculinity even even while perfoming a classical dance form.
