Urvashi Sharma, best remembered for her debut film, Naqab, starting Akshaye Khanba and Bobby Deol, is all set to make a comeback to acting. The actress who was missing in action after her marriage to actor-producer Sachiin Joshi and motherhood -- she has a two-and-a-half year old daughter -- is making her TV debut with Ek Maa Jo Lakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma. The serial that traces the struggle of a single mother for survival post the Partition has Urvashi playing the title role.

"It's difficult to get such a powerful role in films, so when I got the opportunity on TV, I took it up. Also, TV is a big medium, so when this offer came to me, my husband and I discussed it and decided to go ahead," says Urvashi. The role according to her is such that every woman will relate to it. "It's about a woman who manages everything - her house, husband, kids, in-laws, etc, but finds herself alone with her child when the husband leaves her. It's about a woman with no support and how the world treats her. Men try to prey on her and one of them tries to rape her. That's when she fights back. Eventually, she not only fights for herself but others also and becomes a godmother." Ask her if it is inspired by the life of underworld don Jenabai and she says, "I have no idea." She, however, adds that a lot of research has gone into making her character authentic as it spans five decades and every stage of life is distinctive.

What about acting in her husband's productions and she laughs, "I have never thought about it. I feel one person should be at home. Now, that I am working, my husband is baby-sitting my daughter. His next film is due for release but right now he is free."
