'True Detective 2' to air in India on June 22

The second season of True Detective is set to premiere in India on June 22.

This season, a bizarre murder brings together three law-enforcement officers and a career criminal, each of whom must navigate a web of conspiracy and betrayal in the scorched landscapes of California.

Written and created by Nic Pizzolatto, this season stars Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch.  The first two episodes have been directed by Justin Lin.

Farrell stars as Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective in the all-industrial City of Vinci, LA County. Vaughn plays the role of Frank Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his life's work. Kelly Reilly plays his wife.

McAdams stars as Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County sheriff's detective who is often at odds with the system she serves. Kitsch plays Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle cop for the California Highway Patrol who discovers a crime scene which triggers an investigation involving three law enforcement groups.

Colin Farrell says the series' second season is "very different" aesthetically from the first part but the characters are struggling with the same kind of existential quandaries.

"There are four main characters, as opposed to the two-character structure that's in the first piece," Farrell said. 

Season 2 will premiere simultaneously in India along with US telecast, at 6:30 am with a repeat telecast on the same day at 10:00 pm on HBO Defined.

Spoilers and efforts to prevent piracy are behind the simultaneous telecast of the show.

HBO is taking an unprecedented step today in finding a way to avoid spoilers by airing the shows simultaneously  in different countries with different time zones. ”, said Monica Tata, Managing Director, HBO India.

The new season of will run for 8 episodes, beginning June 22.
