Dear White People is one of the most topical, important and hilarious comedies of the year, and as the trailer shows, has an an excellent series of tongue-in-cheek jokes where the lead character uses a radio show to start debate about prevalent racist culture.

The story follows four black students and their wider group of friends at a white Ivy League school. The trailer expands on what we can expect from the plot and the ensemble cast.

The cast includes Teyonah Parris as Coco, who seizes on the controversy to further her broadcast career, and Tyler James Williams as Lionel, who is recruited to write undercover on the mostly white student paper.

Tessa Thompson plays Sam, who is a radical activist and uses her campus radio show to broadcast decrees that begin with the opener “Dear white people", and draws attention to the racist behaviour her white friends engage in. The movie will definitely start conversations about racism and engage people about their behaviour across the globe.
