Hrithik Roshan is not in a great space currently. The actor isn't well and above all that, his last film Mohenjo Daro has been a complete washout at the BO. The losses are huge and you won't believe till you read it here. We spoke to trade analyst Komal Nahta who did a detailed break-up of the investment and the film's recovery.

Here's the detailed lowdown.

Cost of the film:
Given that it's a well mounted period film set against a huge canvas and big sets, the production costs too are mammoth. Komal Nahta tells us, "It runs up to a whopping Rs 120 crore. Add to that an additional P&A cost of Rs 18-20 crore and the total investment for Mohenjo Daro is almost Rs 140 crore. So total cost is around that."

Satellite rights:
Komal says, "Satellite rights were sold to STAR for around Rs 40 crore. They will lose at least Rs 30 crore in the deal."

Music:
The music of Mohenjo Daro didn't connect with the audience and failed to have a good reach. But it was picked up by T-Series. "The team got a good Rs 10 crore for the music but T-Series will lose at least Rs 9 crore now," adds Nahta.

Theatrical rights:
There's a little difference here, asserts the trade analyst. "UTV usually distributes their own films so they don't have to pay any distributor share as they do it themselves. But in some areas, they did sell Mohenjo Daro to distributors. The film has grossed around Rs 81.20 crore (India) + Rs 27.50 crore (Overseas) which equals Rs 108.70 crore worldwide. It's nett domestic lifetime figure is disastrous at just Rs 58 crore after its lifetime run. In totality, the producers will lose around Rs 45-50 crore there."

Total loss:
Adding the loss of the satellite channel, the music channel and the producers, the total loss for Mohenjo Daro goes up to a whopping Rs 85-90 (Rs 45-50+20+9) crore. "That's why it's called the colossal disaster of the decade. It's at par with Bombay Velvet," Nahta signs off. We agree!
