Shah Rukh’s magical act
Trust Shah Rukh Khan to do things differently. Even as everyone thought after his recent injury he would bail out from performing at the Lux Cozi Zee Cine Awards. But King Khan stuck to his promise and performed despite being in pain. He did not shy away from his rehearsals with the ‘King-sized’ comedienne Bharti with whom he teamed up to spoof the films nominated in the Best Film category. And while he was at it, SRK even turned magician. No mean feat, this! The famous Khan rivalry came into play once again in good spirit at the awards show as SRK, while presenting Dhoom 3 as the Best Film nominee, went all out and spoofed Aamir’s character of magician Sahir in the wickedly delightful way, only he can. Shah Rukh’s magic show also included him pulling out flowers out of thin air and presenting them to the ladies on stage, sending his hat levitating above his head, producing fireworks with his wand and what not!
Ranveer-Deepika romance live!
Ram and Leela got together for an act that was nothing short of scintillating! Ever the versatile actor, Ranveer raised a toast to Bollywood through the ages with a non-stop 14-minute performance. Paying a tribute to the movies, masti and magic of Bollywood, he grooved his way through songs picturised on the most iconic Bollywood stars ranging from Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun, Govinda, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. And his own songs. Deepika danced to a medley of her own hits songs. The gorgeous heartthrobs had their own solo acts that led into an exciting grand finale where they teamed up and danced to Nagada sang dhol baaje and Dhishkyaon from Ram Leela. This is the first time that the couple paired up for a live performance.

Sonakshi Sinha’s graceful dance and the current rage Honey Singh’s rocking performance raised the bar of style, dance and songs at Zee Cine Awards. Ali Zafar launched the first-look of his next release, Total Siyapaa. Teaming up with co-star Yaami Gautam, he gave a sneak-peak of their movie through a romantic act.
Akshay turns a soldier
All heads turned to the back exit when the undisputed king of action Akshay Kumar charged in on a bike, looking rugged in a soldier’s uniform. On reaching the stage, Akshay stood tall on the bike as it made six dangerous circles, and leapt off the running bike, only to be catapulted into the sky a good 35 feet over the stage. Airlifted tethered to a mere harness, he had the audience roaring as he waved to them from up above. All of this was smoothly executed in one deft stroke without any retakes and in front of a wildly cheering live audience. That is the hallmark of a true action superstar! His act had blazes of fire and the first-of-its kind rain dance at an awards ceremony. For Akshay, his performance at Zee Cine Awards was the unveiling of his upcoming film Holiday — A Soldier Is Never Off Duty.
Abhishek-Riteish: The deadly jodi
Cut and re-take are probably two words you hear a lot on the sets of a movie. But switch to an awards show and you have a live audience and there’s little or no room for error. So go backstage at any awards show and you will usually find a mad, mad world of last minute changes, panic, wardrobe malfunctions, star tantrums, teleprompters crashing, song lists getting jumbled, presenters unable to make it to the show, sequence of awards being scrambled to suit egos and the works! And it takes nothing short of a hero to tide over these million hiccups and still put on a stellar show! And that is exactly what hosts Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh did. The creative duo came up with the idea of raising a toast to the choreographers, dancers, costume designers, set designers, make-up artistes, lightmen, technicians, et al. Abhi and Ritz reunion comes a year after they regaled audiences with their tongue-in-cheek jokes and light-hearted camaraderie as hosts of Zee Cine Awards last year. This time, beyond the on-stage tom-foolery, Abhishek and Riteish , shot an extensive segment backstage paying a comical tribute to these unsung heroes. This reel of backstage bloopers is a comedy of errors bound to leave
the audience in splits.
