James Bond is one spy every actor worth his metal wants to play. Ian Fleming has made the character irresistible not just to the ladies but to the readers as well.

Director Sam Mendes has already decided to move on and once reports of Daniel Craig deciding to put down his martini glass came out, rumour mills had new fodder for who the possible new face of James Bond will be.

There was talk of Idris Elba, Jamie Bell being front runners. The internet campaigned for 'Jane Bond', a female version of MI 6, with Gillian Anderson as their choice. Then Priyanka Chopra said she would like to play Bond than be a Bond girl.

But Birth.Movies.Death quote sources saying The Night Manager star, Tom Hiddleston is in fact in 'advanced talks to take over the role of James Bond.' The sources also said that even though the talks have taken place, no official offer has been made yet.

Hiddleston has made no qualms about wanting the job. "We all went to see Spectre when we were shooting Skull Island in Hawaii. I simply love the theme tune, the tropes and the mythology. I love the whole thing. If it ever came knocking, it would be an extraordinary opportunity," said Hiddleston at the American premiere of BBC One series The Night Manager.

The spy series adapted from John Le Carre's novel of same name has cemented Hiddleston's claim to be the next Bond. The Night Manager has received critical acclaim and was widely accepted by the audience.

Before they make it official, Hiddleston will be seen in Kong: Skull Island and will return as Loki, for the third time, in Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok
