The National Award winners of 2017 were announced two days back and ever since, there has been a huge furore over the jury's decision to honour Akshay Kumar with the Best Actor Award for Rustom.
The problem is - while many think there were other, more deserving actors for the award, some who supported the choice of giving Akshay the award were surprised that he received it for Rustom, despite giving a stellar performance in Airlift. All this has led to severe backlash on social media.
While Priyadarshan tried to explain his stand claiming that Prakash Jha gave Ajay Devgn the award when he was the jury head and Ramesh Sippy honoured Big B and no one questioned them, a popular South hero has now taken a sly dig at Priyadarshan and his decision.
Arvind Swami was extremely vocal about his disagreement on the National Award and he tweeted -
Nanavati case was one of the last of the jury trials in India. There seems to be other good reasons to do away with the jury. Sorry, seemed
