In mid-August, Ali along with Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma, jetted off for 52 days - their longest international shooting schedule till date. During this, Imtiaz shot three songs across four countries for their upcoming romance-drama, tentatively titled The Ring.

Now they're back in Mumbai and wrapping up the final schedule but they're shooting only at nights. Imtiaz reminisced to a tabloid about the picturesque locations they shot the film at.

They shot in Czech Republic, around the historic Charles Bridge over the Vltava river in Prague. They would shoot either early morning or late in the evenings, with the sun in the backdrop. Imtiaz filmed in Lisbon's oldest quarter spread over the South-Eastern hill and crowned by the Castelo de Sao Jorge fort, in Portugal. They also shot inside the Santa Engracia church in the old town. However, the the biggest thrill for Imtiaz was filming inside the trams. Tram No 28 was his favourite.

Hungary was on the list too, with the director' favourite moment being shooting on the Liberty Bridge in Budapest which connects Buda and Pest across the river Danube. They shot extensively on motor boats that whizzed down the canals, under the old stone bridges in the Netherlands.

Ali recalls, "During my reccee I'd gone to the Black Forest in Germany where I'd stumbled on this small bakery owned by an old lady who only spoke an obscure dialect of German.I wanted a croissant with meat and I was sure she wouldn't get me. But her heart and mind were so open, she understood me right away. I wish I could have included this in my film."
