Grammy-winning singer Sam Smith says he has not been offered to sing the theme for the upcoming James Bond film Spectre.

Smith, in turn, revealed he heard rumours that Ellie Goulding is being eyed for the job, reported Aceshowbiz.

"People seem to think I'm doing it but I have no idea what's going on. I'm being deadly serious. I think I would know by now," he said.

"I heard Ellie Goulding was going to do it, it's definitely not me," the singer said.

Other names in contention to sing the tune include Ed Sheeran, Lana Del Rey, Rita Ora and One Direction. Whoever chosen will follow in the footsteps of Paul McCartney, Madonna and Tina Turner and Adele among others.

Spectre will see Daniel Craig reprising his role as agent 007. Sam Mendes is back as director. The 24th James Bond movie is scheduled for release later this year.
