Anil Kapoor promises that his biography reveals everything about his life and work.
The next couple of years will see a flood of books on actors — Rishi Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah and Anil Kapoor. While Naseer is penning his own, Rishi’s is being written by a veteran film journalist. Anil’s biography is written by journalist-director Khalid Mohammed, who the actor considers a friend. The two have known each other from the beginning of Kapoor’s career.
Anil’s biography will begin from his childhood, span across the 37 years of his career and wind up at his TV serial 24. The actor says, “Initially we were to end it with my Hollywood stint after 24, but then we decided to incorporate my stint as a TV producer. So my biography starts from the time when I was a child to now. There will be landmarks like facing the camera for the first time in Hamare Tumhare in 1978. Then with Woh Saat Din in 1982, I attained status as a commercial saleable leading man and have maintained that for the last 33 years. There is a lot of work to be done on the biography.”
When asked if he is excited about presenting his life to his fans, he shrugs, “I always felt that I needed more time to write my biography as I feel there is so much more to do. Bahut kuch karna hai. But people close to me felt it was high time. I have had many writers offering to pen my biography over the years but with Khalid I have a certain comfort level so I said yes to him. Having said that I will add that I am also a little scared as he knows a lot of things about me. Woh bahut pyar se nikalega all my secrets...”
Anil promises that his biography will be extremely interesting and full of facts. What about the affairs? After all he had been linked to many of his heroines. He laughs, “Kahaan yaar? I wish!.” Then adds, “I am cool about everything and will be the way I am in real life — honest and truthful. There will be lot of candid confessions and revelations. Of course I have to be careful about some things because of my children as this is India and not Hollywood.”
