The original 'Khoobsurat' actress Rekha told Sonam Kapoor that she was the best choice for the remake

Sonam Kapoor is acting in the remake of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Khoobsurat, which starred Rekha and Rakesh Roshan. She is thrilled because she recently met the leading lady of the original and got her blessings for the part.

Madam Re has given her stamp of approval to the project being produced by Rhea Kapoor. The sisters are currently shooting in Bikaner for Khubsoorat remake.

Sonam was pleasantly surprised when she met the senior actress at an event and Rekha told her she felt that Sonam was the perfect choice for her role. The younger actress was almost in tears having received such high praise from Rekha, who she has always admired.

Rekha played Manju Dayal in the 1980 original who brings about a drastic change in a household regulated by rules laid down by Dina Pathak. Unlike Rekha’s character, who had just finished college in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s film, in the remake Sonam will be playing a physiotherapist who works with IPL team. The remake is being directed by Shashank Ghosh.
