Richard Linklater's Birdman and Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel lead the Academy Awards nominees with nine nods each, including best picture, in the race for Hollywood's top film prize.  British World War II biopic The Imitation Game has eight nominations, including best actor for Benedict Cumberbatch, while Iraq war portrait American Sniper and Golden Globe winner for best drama, Boyhood, have six each.
