The heart of the matter

Following the advice of the doctors she’s been consulting, Maanyata Dutt has gotten herself admitted to a Parel hospital for a series of tests. While all we know is that she’s been diagnosed with a liver tumour and a suspected heart ailment, the hospital remains tight lipped about what caused the sudden move. According to one senior doctor, Maanyata could have to undergo an operation but the final decision will only be taken after a careful assessment of her medical condition.

Though there was much scepticism about the seriousness of Maanyata’s condition which was the basis of Sanjay Dutt getting a month-long parole, it does seem a bit insensitive given that the actor has earlier lost his mother Nargis Dutt and former wife Richa Sharma to cancer. But from what we’ve heard, after tests were conducted on her in December, doctors opined that the it was  small growth that medically did not qualify as a major concern. Apparently Maanyata had earlier approached Lilavati Hospital for a suspected heart condition but the doctors there had advised an angiography first — following which he decided to take a second opinion from Global Hospital. With less than 10 days to go before his parole ends, Maanyata’s sudden hospitalisation could be grounds for a further extension of the parole — if it doesn’t go down well with his detractors, we won’t be surprised.
