He may be all of 23 yet he composes and produces his own music. Aaryan Gala, DJ and music producer, says he started playing the piano at the age of eight, but was lucky to be chosen last year by the Ministry of Sound. “It was a great experience. I sent in my mixes and was selected. I got the opportunity to train under renowned names like Andy Woods, Jamie Griffiths and Chris Finke and also perform regularly at 103 and The Box,” says Aaryan who’s possibly the only Indian to be chosen.
Talking about his first single Animated Love, the musician says it’s the first stop motion and animation video in the world. “Stop motion is like using 10 frames of photographs per second, so for this video we have used 3400 pictures. It’s a combination of flashy backgrounds and animation that keeps moving slowly to give the video a drippy feel,” he says. As for the theme, he says he wanted to convey how everyone is in love with something or the other, whether it’s their work, passion or a person and how love should never be dull but exciting. Aaryan has teamed up with indie band The Atom’s Theory for this track that has been shot in Mumbai and Goa. He adds, “I think Indian audiences are ready to embrace EDM music. The future is EDM.”
