Shailene Woodley is in talks to become the female lead in the upcoming Edward Snowden film.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the project, which would be managed by Oliver Stone, already stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the National Security Agency (NSA) whistleblower, and if the deal is sealed, Woodley, 22, would play the girlfriend Gordon-Levitt's character.
The film, which is based on the upcoming novel of Luke Harding's The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World's Most Wanted Man and Time of the Octopus, by Snowden's lawyer Anatoly Kucherena, and would portray his time with Snowden while he waited in limbo at the Moscow airport before the Russian government decided to grant him asylum, post handing over top-secret NSA documents.
Stone would be producing the project, which is currently in pre-production in Germany, along with longtime producing partner Moritz Borman.
