He’s been born and bred in Bollywood and when actor Neil Nitin Mukesh says he never thought of any other career, we readily agree. And the young actor is gung-ho about his forthcoming flick, Players, a thriller from the house of director duo Abbas-Mustan — a first in many ways for him.

“It’s the first time I get to work with this director duo and their way of operating is so inspirational. Also, I work for the first time with most of my co-actors in the film, save Bipasha (Basu) and boy, what a blast we had! Of course, there’s no forgetting how we travelled almost across the globe to shoot the film — it’s been one experience,” he states.

Quiz him on his character in the film and Neil elaborates, “I play Spider, a computer geek and hacker — the brain behind the heist. He is extremely comfortable in his own skin and doesn’t take long to impress.” But what Neil is most excited about is the cast of Players. “I have known Abhishek (Bachchan) and Bobby (Deol) ever since I was a kid and they are older brothers to me. Bipasha (Basu) and I get along famously while I must say, Sonam (Kapoor) looks smoking hot,” he adds.

There’s some similarity between him and Spider, the actor feels. “Like him, I’m always myself — like me or leave me. I’ve been genuine for as long as I can remember but yes, I have also learnt a lot of lessons from friends and so-called friends. I consider it all to be a part of the growing process,” he states.

Neil confesses to his fondness for thrillers. “The dark fascinates me. In recent times, I’d love to be part of films like Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai or even Murder 2,” he says. And what about mush and romance? “I’d love to do love stories if there’s any love in it. I must say in the garb of rom-coms, the industry is making some really trashy films. Why can’t we learn from films like True Romance or Love Story or even desi films like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak or Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar?” he ends.
