Farhan Akhtar will be seen in three upcoming films with actresses he has never worked with before. He has been cast opposite Priyanka Chopra in his sister Zoya Akhtar’s next film. His next release Shaadi Ke Side Effects, will see him with Vidya Balan. While in Dev Benegal’s next he’ll be paired opposite Kareena Kapoor.
Not a repeater
While Farhan has worked with almost all the top actresses, he hasn’t been seen with the same heroine twice. He made his debut opposite Prachi Desai in Rock On, and has acted opposite Deepika Padukone in Karthik Calling Karthik, Konkona Sensharma in Luck By Chance, and Sonam Kapoor in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. In Zindagi Naa Milegi Doobara he was paired with Ariadna Cabrol.
Don’t you want a partner?
An actor-actress jodi like Shah Rukh-Kajol, Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif, Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone have always generated a lot of buzz in the trade circuits as well as at the Box office.
Farhan, however, is yet to find his other half on the big screen.
While it remains to be seen whether Farhan will form a jodi with any of his current leading ladies, working with various heroines seems to be working for him. Of his last two outings, Zindagi Naa Milegi Doobara did pretty well at the box office, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag found him a spot in the Rs 100 crore club
Rock On (2008): Farhan made his debut with this film, while Prachi Desai switched mediums from TV to films.
The only time he worked with an actress who was also a newcomer, and not an A-lister.
Luck By Chance (2009): Farhan’s sister Zoya made her directorial debut with LBC. The movie had Farhan playing an ambitious wannabe actor, who cheats on his girlfriend to get ahead in his career. Though it wasn’t a box office success, Farhan and Konkona both won a lot of praise for their performances.
Karthik Calling Karthik (2010): It was Farhan’s chemistry with Deepika that stood out the most in this film. Unfortunately, the movie failed to click at the BO and they didn’t work together again.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013): While the focus was on sport than romance, Farhan’s pairing with Sonam was one of the highlights of the film. Though their screen time together was limited, the janta gave them a thumbs-up.
Shaadi Ke Side Effects (2014): The movie is a sequel to Rahul Bose-Mallika Sherawat starrer Pyaar Ke Side effects. This time around Farhan and Vidya will play a married couple trying to deal with baby blues. The trailer that was recently released has been received well. Of course, it’s the BO that will predict the fate of this pair.
Zoya Akhtar’s film: Having directed PeeCee in two movies, there’s bound to be a certain comfort level between this jodi. Both Farhan and PeeCee are known to be great dancers, and it will be fun to see them match steps on the big screen.
Dev Benegal’s next: Not much is known about this project that will see Farhan opposite Bebo for the first time. It will be interesting to see Farhan, who has been associated with movies that try to strike a balance between critical acclaim and box office numbers, with Bebo, who loves her masala films.
