The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons has tied the knot with his longtime partner, Todd Spiewak on Saturday at New York's Rainbow Room restaurant at the top of the city's famous landmark 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

The 44-year-old actor, who plays the quirky astrophysicist, Sheldon Cooper in the CBS show, got hitched to the graphic designer on May 13, reported Page Six.

Last year, the couple celebrated their 14 years together and Parsons wrote on Instagram, alongside a Spiewak's photo singing in a microphone, "I met this guy... 14 years ago today and it was the best thing that ever happened to me, no contest. One of his greatest gifts to me is that he no longer takes me to sing karaoke. Also, I believe this was a selfie with an actual camera, as our phones couldn't do that back then hahaha!"

Parsons came out as gay in the year 2012 and revealed he was in a ten-year-relationship.

In a 2014 interview with Ellen DeGeneres, the actor said he was in no hurry to get married.

In the reel-life, his character of Dr Sheldon Cooper too has popped the question to his partner of five years Dr Amy Farrah Fowler. The tenth season of The Big Bang Theory has ended on a big cliffhanger.

Apart from the upcoming season, Parsons is busy producing the prequel series Young Sheldon at CBS with, now his husband, Spiewak.

The show is created by Chuck Lorre and Steve Molaro. The project will revolve around a 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper (Armitage) as he lives with his family in East Texas and attends high school. Big Little Lies actor Ian Armitage will play young Sheldon Cooper and Zoe Merry has taken up the role of his mother Mary Cooper.
