Taylor Swift to give MTV VMAs 2016 a miss, Kanye West is going though

Singer Taylor Swift will not attend the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday.

The 26-year-old 'Blank Space' hitmaker, who is currently spending time in the New York City, never had any plans to be present at the event, reported People magazine.

"Taylor was never scheduled to attend the MTV VMAs," a source said.

Swift, whose last album 1989 released in October 2014, got no nominations at VMAs this time. Last year, the singer picked up the video of the year award for her 2014 track 'Bad Blood.'

Her constant foe, Kanye West, on the other hand, will be attending the award show with wife Kim Kardashian in tow.

Kanye's controversial video 'Famous' which became the root cause of another feud between him and Taylor, is nominated for Best Video Male category. The winner of Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award for 2015 is also rumoured to be lined up for presenting one of the awards at the ceremony.

We can scratch off one possible showdown on the red carpet (or given Kanye's history with Taylor on stage) from highly entertaining show.
