The original copy of the very first Superman comic, Action Comics #1, which launched the superhero in 1938 and has been considered the finest preserved copy, has now earned the record of 'most expensive' American comic book.

It has been sold for $3,207,852 in an eBbay auction and bleeding Cool's Mark Seifert reported that the winning bidder was the dealer Metropolitan/ComicConnect, who was possibly bidding for an unknown client, the Hollywood Reporter reported.

Before the appearance of this newly sold copy of Action Comics No. 1, Nicolas Cage's copy of Action Comics No. 1 was considered the finest surviving copy. But the new copy has been considered even nicer, featuring startlingly white pages for a 76-year-old comic.
