Faridha was declared as first runner-up and Rajaganapathy as the Judges' Choice.
This is one of the most popular programmes on TV in Tamil and this year got even bigger. The grand finale of Super Singer 5 took place on March 17 at the DB Jain College, Thuraipakkam, Chennai. The five singers who made it to the finals were Faridha, Rajaganapathy, Siyad, Anand Krishnan and Lakshmi Pradeep. In a tough battle, it was finally Anand Krishnan who took home the coveted title. Faridha was declared as first runner-up and Rajaganapathy as the Judges' Choice. The program was aired live on Star VIjay and on Hot Star as well.
Here are the five finalists:
Faridha M - She is well versed in classical forms of music and is one of the first direct finalists of Super Singer 5.
Rajaganapathy - He is a Carnatic singer and won the Most Progressive Singer Award. He was also a direct finalist of Super Singer 5.
Siyad K - He is well-versed in classical, folk and western genres. He received the Soulful Singer Award. He was a direct finalist of Super Singer 5.
Anand Krishnan - He received Creative Singer Award. He was a wild card entry.
Lakshmi Pradeep - She is quite good across all the genres. She received the Expressive Singer Award. She was a wild card entry.,
It was Faridha who took the stage first followed by Rajaganapathy. Then it was Siyad, Lakshmi Pradeep and finally Anand Krishnan who took the stage. It was finally Anand Krishnan who won the title.
Meanwhile, music director Santhosh Narayanan has promised both Anand and Faridha that he will give them opportunities to sing for him.
Other performers who mesmerised the audience were pianist-cum-composer Stephen Devassy, Sid Sriram, Benny Dayal and Gana Bala.
Anchors Makapa Anand, Priyanka Deshpande, and Bhavna Balakrishnan hosted the show on Friday evening.
