Sunny Leone’s 'Ek Paheli Leela' beats 'NH10', 'Shamitabh' and 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy' at box office

Ek Paheli Leela had hit the screens yesterday. But unlike predictions of B-town punters, who expected the film to bomb at box office, the film has done exceedingly well and the box office figures are proof of it. Sunny Leone’s Rajasthani princess avatar has worked wonders as Ek Paheli Leela has managed to rake Rs 5.30 crores at box office.

Many would consider that as a brilliant start for the film, but what’s interesting to see is the comparison of box office opening day figures of Ek Paheli Leela with other films of 2015. Numbers suggest that Sunny Leone has left stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput in her wake, as her film’s opening day collections is better than the rest of the films. While Sunny Leone’s Ek Paheli Leela earned Rs 5.30 crores at box office, Amitabh-Dhanush starrer Shamitabh only managed to mint Rs 3.5 crore. Also Anushka Sharma’s NH10 and Sushant Singh Rajput’s Detective Byomkesh Bakshy raked Rs 3.35 crores and 4.41 crores respectively, which are less compared to Sunny’s film’s opening day numbers.

Now that Ek Paheli Leela is off to a great start, will the film continue to make money in the coming days? Also, next week Emraan Hashmi’s Mr X and Kalki Koechlin’s Margarita With A Straw will give tough fight to Ek Paheli Leela. Will Sunny magic continue to floor the audience and keep the cash registers ringing despite the competition? Only time will tell.
