At a time when Bollywood is blamed for being inspired and at times, plagiarising Hollywood content, this news seems to have come as a definite progression of sorts. Kahaani will now be officially remade into a Hollywood film, titled 'Deity'.

The film, will now be helmed by Niels Arden Oplev of 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' fame. The story of Kahaani, which had sent chills down our spines two years back, seems to be kept almost the same in the remake. 'Deity' will revolve around the story of an American woman, who embarks on a relentless search for her missing husband. Yet again taking Kolkata as the backdrop, the director will try and recreate the entire aura that was synonymous with the original.

Sujoy Ghosh, who directed the original is rather pleased and overwhelmed at the association. Aditya Chopra had earlier promised to get Kahaani closer to the global audience and by initialising this step, his dreams have taken a step ahead. Jose Rivera and Richard Regen are reworking on the script, giving it a neo-realistic tinge. Although the basic background and story of the film would carry the same appeal, with Kolkata's Durga Puja being the major highlight, this one-of-a-kind association seems to be a long awaited relief from the regular 'copycat' attacks that are thrown upon Bollywood.
