Reacting to the death of veteran actress Suchitra Sen, Mahila Congress President Shobha Oza on Friday said that Sen was one of the best actresses of Indian cinema, and will always remain in the hearts of people.
“She was one of the best actresses of Indian cinema, and will always remain in the hearts of people. May her soul rest in peace and god give her family strength,” said Oza.
National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Mamta Sharma said that Suchitra Sen was an amazing actress, and that no one could fill her space.
“She will always be remembered. I pay my tributes to her,” said Sharma.
Actress turned politician Nagma said that it was extremely unfortunate that she passed away, but she would always remain in the hearts of the people.
“It is very sad news, but I have always said that such artists always remain in the hearts of people. They never die,” she said.
Suchitra Sen has passed away at the age of 82.
The actress, who has starred in Bollywood and Bengali films, was reported to be in a critical condition and was surviving on oxygen support and intravenous feeding at Belle Vue Clinic in Kolkata.
Sen was the first Indian actress to win the best actress award internationally at the Moscow Film Festival.
She had starred in memorable Hindi films like 'Devdas', 'Aandhi' and 'Saat Paake Bandha', 'Agnipariksha', 'Saptapadi' and 'Deep Jwele Jai' in Bengali.
