I have taken part in a Mumbai marathon twice and once in a London marathon. For all the women who are participating in the dna ICan marathon, I would say half the battle is already won as you have decided to take part. All you have to do is stay positive, focussed and believe in yourself.

However, it is important to be prepared before you run the marathon. When I was training for the marathon in Mumbai, I used to run around the racecourse. I would run in the evenings around 7 pm. The weather had cooled, and something about running in the dark made it very peaceful.

Also, make sure you stretch properly. (I am a horrible stretcher and as a result of it, my body is one big walking disaster and I'm only 27!). Stay hydrated and make sure you fuel up properly on the right food the day before.

I'm a big believer in clean eating. Yes it's always good to indulge once in a while, but for me it's about eating the right things. At the end of the day, fitness is 30% exercise, 70% lifestyle so there is no point going to the gym if you are not going to balance it with a healthy lifestyle.

I am a big supporter of anything that promotes a healthy lifestyle and I think dna ICan is a great initiative in that direction.
