Here are our picks for a Bollywood version of the popular franchise. Because... why not?

In a galaxy far, far away (in our imagination, of course) we made a twisted version of a Bollywood-ised Star Wars franchise. Because hey, why not? The ‘episodes’ have only gotten better with time and our biggest Indian film (Baahubali 2, in case you were wondering) played on 800 screens in the US. By now, they’re familiar with our faces, no?

Shah Rukh Khan as Han Solo

Smuggler with a conscience and a rugged care-a-damn attitude. The ultimate romantic. A suave people’s hero. We’re talking about both Shah Rukh in Raees and Han Solo in the Star Wars franchise.

Priyanka Chopra as Princess Leia

Leia is fierce, self-aware, and possessed by the cause of the Force. Carrie Fisher cannot be replaced, but we feel the only ‘desi girl’ who can come close is our very own... Priyanka Chopra. Action scenes? Check! Rocking a gold bikini? Check!

Anil Kapoor as Chewbacca

His Royal Hirsuteness just has to let the fur grow and grow. We know the Jaanbaaz star is always up for challenges. Just give him a speaking part and watch the taalis flow as Chewie mouths dialogues.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Supreme Leader Snoke

Supreme Leader Snoke is the evil with brains and little to no temper. Way better than Palpatine. Imagine Nawaz with one killer stare. Intimidating the heck out of Kylo.

Alia Bhatt as Rey

That vulnerability. Those lost eyes. The only one who can hold her own against men twice her nice and not betray fear? And a wee bit of naivete? Alia Bhatt is probably the only person in B-Town who could do one better than Daisy Ridley.

Anupam Kher as Emperor Palpatine

Palpatine is the Phantom Menace. The person responsible for restoring the Sith. Nobody saw him coming. The actor playing this part needs to switch character at cue. Anupam Uncle has had a filmography that boasts of several such roles.

Hrithik Roshan as Obi Wan Kenobi

The younger version, of course. The one Ewan McGregor played. Hrithik is perfect for this role, and we can totally see him as the gruffy mentor to young Luke.

Ranveer Singh as Kylo Ren

Oh man, this guy’s mercurial and can own almost any character he plays. Bajirao Mastani proved he can do brooding as well as he does off-his-rocker. And we’re pretty sure he’s going to chew up the scenery as the villainous Alauddin Khilji in the upcoming Padmavati. Watching him go from Ben Solo to a Knight of Ren is going to make for great cinema.

Varun Dhawan for Anakin

Sorry, Varun, we’re considering you for a character with a limited run. But you’re enthusiastic, eager to please, but your ‘dark side’ has come to the fore (with Badlapur) and has belied your mostly good-boy image. And as much as we’d hate to see you turn into Darth Vader, think about who’s going to be your voice behind that mask!

Aamir Khan as Yoda

Jedi master. Perfectionist. Overreaching enthusiast. And he can voice the part quite effortlessly. The face-mapping on this one is going to be epic!

Ranbir Kapoor as Luke Skywalker

Come on! You saw this coming. Every Ranbir Kapoor movie is literally the story of Luke Skywalker — rebel without cause finds his true calling. All the way from Wake Up Sid to Tamasha. Well, it’s time to step up his game and become a Jedi master. After all, we always knew the Force was strong with this guy!

Amitabh Bachchan as Darth Vader

That voice! What James Earl Jones’s low-pitched growl did for the early days of the franchise can only be replicated by Big B. God knows he needs a break from the likes of Sarkars and Shamitabhs.
