This Christmas actress Sonam Kapoor will turn Santa Claus. No, she isn’t getting into Santa’s garb to celebrate the season’s festivities, instead she will be spreading cheer by bringing smiles to the kids of an NGO for whom she intends to raise money. For this, the actress has decided to auction online around 60 ensembles from her uberchic closet that includes an assortment of international labels and high-end desi designer brands.

This online auction will start on Christmas eve. Talking about turning Santa for a cause, Sonam says that it’s the best way to celebrate Christmas as the proceeds will go towards the cause of education, a cause that she feels about very strongly about. “I feel that if even one child’s education is taken care of, it’s actually a reason to celebrate and here we are aiming to support atleast 300 underprivileged children from the NGO Smile Foundation,” says Sonam, who, with this adds yet another cause that she supports to her list. “I feel that I am very blessed and this is my way of giving something back to the society. Even for my birthday I had requested all my family and friends to not gift me and instead make donations to these charities,” shares the actress.

For her latest endeavour, the actress has teamed up with her good friend Pernia Qureshi on whose e-commerce site the outfits will be auctioned. “I have personally selected these outfits, all of them have been worn not more than once or twice and are all outfits that I have worn on special occasions, like film premieres, cover shoots or other red carpet events. So, they are all aspirational clothes and it’s retail therapy this season that will actually not leave you feeling guilty, as it’s all for a good cause,” adds Sonam. The duo have pledged in a sizeable amount to the NGO irrespective of the sales.

Elaborating about the clothes Sonam reveals that there’s something for everyone — right from an Alexander McQueen to Missoni to Manish Arora to Anamika Khanna — and they have all been handpicked by her and Pernia.

Talking about fashion, ask her about her recent meeting with designer Roberto Cavalli and she says that meeting him is always a pleasure. “I have known him and his family for over five years now, so it was exciting to meet him on home turf. We walked the red carpet for it together and even the dinner was fun. We were only about 10 of us, so it was very private. I am really happy for him and women here, as I feel that his clothes will have a great connect here,” smiles the ‘style princess of Bollywood’.
