Actress Sonal Chauhan who is currently shooting for her film in Fiji with actor Neil Nitin Mukesh was until recently quite hydrophobic.
The actor who has been scared of water since she was a kid, now enjoys swimming and also includes it in her workout regime. “As a child, I was a bit hydrophobic but when I signed 3G, the role required me to know swimming. I had to overcome my fear and learn how to swim. My sister and my friends made me realise that this was an opportunity for me to oversome my fear of water. Once I took it upon myself, I managed to conquer my fear and I am happy to say that swimming has become an integral part of my workout which not only helps me burn calories but also helps me relax. It’s fantastic and I intend taking my training further soon.” The peteite actor is very particular about her fitness regime and works out roughly five times a week and indulges in both, outdoor and indoor forms of workouts.
“I like doing a bit of both because it’s important to give your body a different environments to workout in. I prefer doing my cardio-based workouts and yoga outdoors twice a week while weight training is indoors. I do core strength and weight training twice a week and power yoga once a week to ensure flexibility, agility and toning,” she says.
As far as diets are concerned, the actor who is a self-confessed foodie, has to keep a check on her intake and ensures she has small meals every two hours. “Eat small meals every two hours and avoid carbs after 7 pm. I enjoy eating all kinds of cuisines but I eat in moderation and progressively make my meals smaller as the day goes by. Also, I make sure to drink lots of water throughout the day. Extend fitness to every aspect of your lifestyle and not just when the need arises. Follow a healthy and balanced diet, exercise keeping your body type in mind and provide your body with adequate rest,” the actor says.
