After wrapping up Tubelight, in which he shares screen space with his brother Salman Khan, Sohail Khan is busy shooting for the kids’s laughter show Chhote Miyan Dhaakad. He was last seen on the small-screen judging Comedy Circus. “I love happy smiling faces and being around children. While Comedy Circus had mature humour, here it’s innocent. I have two kids — one aged 16 years and another six-year old — so I can relate to them. It’s like a therapy for me,” says Sohail.

Ask him how was it reuniting with his brother on screen and he says, “It’s always a pleasure. Plus, there is this chemistry we bring on screen, which is why I suppose Kabir Khan wanted Bhai for the title role, and me to play his brother.” There have been reports that the film is inspired by the Hollywood hit Little Boy that is about a boy who is bullied by his classmates because of his short height. When his father is captured in war as a Japanese prisoner, the son sets out on a journey to find him against all odds and obstacles.

Meanwhile, Sohail, who produced Freaky Ali last, is now gearing up to make two films — My Punjabi Nikaah and Sher Khan. Wasn’t Sher Khan planned with Salman a couple of years ago? “Nothing has been finalised yet. We are just readying the script, only after that casting will start. It is not being necessarily written with Bhai in mind,” he informs. His production house is also toying with the idea of making content for TV, which could materialise in 2018.

What about producing content for the digital platform, which is the in thing these days? He says, “Right now, the web space is just too cluttered. There is so much happening that it is difficult to penetrate and grab eyeballs. Also, the digital content gets into a very different space that is controversial — bold and edgy. But our production house for years has been making movies that get categorised either ‘U’ or ‘UA’. We are not equipped or mentally prepared to make that kind of content yet. Maybe, if we get some script like that or open a department, but no such plans as of now.”
