Sofia Vergara's ex Nick Loeb explains frozen embryo lawsuit

Sofia Vergara's former fiance Nick Loeb has defended his lawsuit over frozen embryos, which the pair created in 2013.

The 39-year-old businessman said in a statement released through his lawyer Mark J Heller, that he has always strongly believed that life begins at conception and that every embryo is life on the journey towards birth, the Mirror reported. Loeb added that he created these two female embryos with the purpose of taking them to term and not destruction, because he has always dreamed of being a father.

He noted that he has previously offered to waive any parental or financial responsibilities or obligations on the part of his ex Vergara, and to even give her the opportunity to be involved with the child in the future, should she change her mind. He added that he takes the responsibility and obligation of being a parent very seriously.

Vergara's lawyer Fred Silberberg has claimed the Modern Family star has never wanted to destroy her embryos, adding that she has always maintained that they be kept frozen, a fact of which Loeb and his counsel have always been aware, despite Loeb's statements to the contrary.
