Sir Paul McCartney has said that winning his 17th Grammy award for his new album Kisses on the Bottom, surprised him.
He told BBC 6 Music that it came as a big shock to him to know that he had won 17 Grammys.
The 70-year-old legendary musician said that he had not kept count of the total number of Grammys he had won.
The best traditional pop vocal album Grammy was McCartney’s first for a record of new material since his Beatles days.
He did not attend the awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday, but watched it on television and said that the moment he and his wife received news of the win via a text message from his manager things got “particularly exciting”
“We were watching it on telly, it was like ‘Oh yeah!’. You can imagine the room went wild,” he added.
