'Singham Returns' crosses prequel 'Singham's business at the box office

The Rs 30 crore opening for 'Singham Returns' was unprecedented and unexpected but once the numbers started coming in, 'Singham Returns' has turned out to be a huge blockbuster in the making. And with its collections on Wednesday, it has already crossed the collections of its precursor, 'Singham'.

'Singham' which was the first edition of the franchise had earned in around Rs 100.30 crore at the box office in total. And after netting in around Rs 6.44 crore on its first Wednesday, 'Singham Returns' has already beaten 'Singham' in a matter of just six days.

The film is still making decent business on Thursday, according to early reports and the film looks to have around Rs 113 crore weekend. Already, the film has collected Rs 107.12 crore at the domestic box office.

'Singham Returns' has helped Rohit Shetty maintain his consistency while it has helped Ajay Devgn forget his last debacle 'Himmatwaala' and the average 'Satyagaraha'. Even Kareena Kapoor seemed to have found back her pace with 'Singham Returns', given the poor performances of her last few films.
