Her aunt Vijeta Pandit had worked with Anil Kapoor in Mohabbat and now Shweta Pandit is all set to do a cameo in his thriller 24. Shweta, who is actually a playback singer having rendered songs in Mohabbatein, Partner and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan to name a few, will now be making her TV acting debut with the show. Earlier, she had played a small role in Bejoy Nambiar’s David. Says Shweta, “I am a musician but I always wanted to act with Anil uncle. When Abhinay sir (director Abhinay Deo) approached me after seeing my pictures, I gave several look tests. Initially, I was supposed to another role but it didn’t work out. This happened twice and finally Anil uncle told me that the season is ending, so I better do this. I have a cameo but all my scenes are with Anil uncle and he was completely supportive and encouraging. There is a lot of action in the scene and it’s quite gripping. I am looking forward to people’s reaction.”

Though she was unwilling to divulge the details of her role, we have learnt that she plays Radhika, a sweet and compassionate college student. A source says that the serial will see events leading to Anil’s character Jai Singh Rathod being taken hostage by some LTFE members. “LTFE along with Jai take refuge in Sivam’s house. Sivam is an LTFE supporter living in Mumbai with his daughter Radhika,” says the source.

Ask Shweta if she wants to pursue acting as a career and she says that for the next two months, she will be busy touring with AR Rahman’s troupe for Rahmanishq (a concert), in which she is the lead singer and later will be performing in composer Illayaraja’s US concert. “When I return I will definitely look at acting along with my singing,” smiles Shweta.
