Singer Daler Mehndi to produce Kannada film

Popular singer Daler Mehndi sang his first Kannada song last year for the film Namo Bhootatma. Now a leading daily reports that he is set to produce a Kannada film to be directed by Sandalwood choreographer-turned-director Imran Sardaria.

The film  will be made in Kannada and Telugu and is about a dancer. All the actors will be selected through a competition on a dance reality show.

The film is being produced under the Shalabh Kumar-Daler Mehndi (SKDM) banner with Kannada producer A Manjunath as one of the co-producers. It will have two male and two female leads. 

The producers are also contemplating making it in Hindi. The movie has been scripted by Janardhan Maharshi and music will be composed by Harikrishna. Daler Mehndi will also compose a few songs in the film. The film is reportedly based on the English dance-drama Billy Elliot.
