Shweta Salve is hoping to strike gold with her debut Hindi film
Actor Shweta Salve feels the recent critical and commercial success of television stars Rajeev Khandelwal and Prachi Desai will open the doors of Bollywood to many other soap actors.
“Rajeev and Prachi graduating successfully into films is great news for many television actors as more and more Bollywood producers will feel safe about having a TV star in lead roles for their films. Earlier, not many people from the TV fraternity achieved Bollywood glory but things look bright for us now,” Shweta says.
The actress, known primarily for her captivating moves in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, notes that it is very important for a television artist to make an impact in his / her very first break.
She explains, “As a television actor, getting the first break is very crucial because that’s the most difficult part. After you sign your debut film, it is important to be immediately successful. If you taste success in your debut then most of your struggle is over. So I’m hoping my first break will also be appreciated by audiences and critics.”
Understandably, she wants to scale new heights with her first film Bhanvra, which is nearing its release. “I really want the film to work. We all have worked really hard on it. I’m glad that Dharmesh Darshan thought I was fit enough to take on such a challenging role,” she says.
Ask her about her role and she quips, “I play someone who undergoes a major transition in the film. I start out as this rebellious sassy girl who goes through a transformation. I’m really glad that I got to play two completely different roles through one character in the film,” she signs off.
