Shraddha Kapoor's song 'Gaaliyan' from Ek Villian was loved by audiences and became one of the best songs of last year. Shraddha has a beautiful voice and used to train with her grandfather as a kid. So when Mohit Suri gave her the opportunity to sing during the shooting of Ek Villian she gladly took it up and lent her voice to the song.

Her song has been trending and she has earned praises from all quarters for her singing. Recently the young talented actress was humbled when GIMA awards reached out to her to break the news that she has been nominated for the award. Shraddha was ecstatic to learn that she is contending for such a prestigious award.

Singing had taken a back seat for Shraddha all these years and while she is a trained singer, she had not really practised for some time now. Before taking to the studio, Shraddha got back to her riyaaz and was very nervous. However she never expected her song to be recognised in such a high measure.

In fact, post 'Gaaliyan', Shraddha even lent her voice for a song in Haider. Shraddha hails from a music family and her grandfather Pandharinath Kolhapure is a classical singer. She was waiting to break the news to her grandfather and was sure he would be delighted to hear it. She personally wanted to do meet him and tell him this.

Says Shraddha, "I was absolutely euphoric when I got to know that I have been nominated for a singing award. Singing is something which I have always been interested in but not really pursued so getting such recognition really means a lot."

She further adds "I am really thankful to Mohit actually. I had casually mentioned it to him that I would like to sing during Aashiqui 2 shoot but during Ek Villain it was he who brought it up and encouraged me to sing."
