He had a run in with several fringe groups online, which landed Shekhar Suman and his family in troubled waters when recently, when two outfits staged protests in Indore and at their Mumbai residence. Suman was at the receiving end of the Rajput Karni Sena's wrath and similar fringe groups after he took to the social media and TV channels to condemn the attack on Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the sets of Padmavati, in Jaipur on January 27.

It didn't end there. The 54-year-old actor got a nasty shock on Sunday when members of the Rajasthani outfit showed up at an Indore auditorium while Suman's play, Ek Mulaqaat, was being staged. On the other hand, members of Mahakal Sena from Gujarat staged a protest and threatened his wife, Alka, and son Adhyayan, at their Mumbai residence.

A source close to the actor told a tabloid, “Shekhar was just pointing out that they should not have taken the law in their hands. But the groups accused him of disrespecting the Rajput community. He has always maintained that he respects every community. On Sunday, things took a turn for the worse when around 300 members of the Rajput Karni Sena protested outside the auditorium in Indore. After that, Shekhar received a call from the hotel where he was staying, informing him that 300 people were protesting there too. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, 100 people from Gujarat's Mahakal Sena landed up to protest outside his house. After a couple of hours, they left a letter with the contact number of their head, Sanjay Rathore."

The source further informed that Shekhar chose to settle the matter quietly rather than approaching the police. Shekhar met Sanjay Rathore, leader of the Mahakal Sena yesterday, and explained that it was not his intention to insult any community. The meeting lasted a couple of minutes. “By the end of it, Rathore appealed to the members of the Sena through a video to not harass Shekhar and his family," added the source. When the tabloid contacted Suman, he confirmed that the events as detailed above had “happened“ but was quick to add that “the issue had been resolved amicably."
